Greetings!
“Helping others on their healing journeys serves my own wellness and truly makes my heart sing. The more I take the seat of the teacher the more I return to studentship.”
Sofia grew up in her parent’s Italian restaurant called Mileti’s in Park City, Utah. Growing up she spent more time there than at home or in school. This was the foundation of her understanding of and passion for food. Her experience at Mileti’s eventually parlayed into other opportunities to expand and hone her craft and she was lucky enough to cook under some of Park City, Utah’s finest chefs. Eventually she opened her own restaurant in Guatemala on Lake Atitlan. After moving back to the US in 2009, Sofia shifted her focus from fine dining and catering to nutrition and wellness.
All people deserve to eat healthful, delicious food and be supported by a healthy body and this Sofia’s passion. She changed the course of her career and life so that she could be in a position to teach others how to heal and enjoy optimum vitality through breath and meditation, nutrition, movement, sound, and mindset. All of these skills, experiences, and education have distilled down to this purpose; to empower others to enjoy life more fully and become the best version of themselves.
For the past three years, sound healings have become another tool that Sofia uses to assist her students and coaching clients to finding delight in their bodies and in the world. She has become a skilled sound practitioner and and has performed hundreds of sound healings using a myriad of instruments. With an extensive background in music promotion and having grown up in a musical family, sound healings fit organically into her wheelhouse. She served as the director of Mountain Town Music's wellness initiative, a 501-c3 in Park City, Utah who's mission is to use sound as a form of community healing through an event series called Healing Sounds.
Sofia has spent many years exploring movement and engaging in several hundreds of hours of training to teach various forms of yoga. Her mentor, teacher, and friend Tiffany Wood set her on the path in a 100 hour Anusara immersion and teacher training and from there she continued with a 200 hour teacher training with the Yandara Institute.
In June of 2019 Sofia certified to teach Foundation Training and is currently one of 8 certified instructors in the state of Utah. Foundation Training is a series of movements and engaging postures developed by Dr. Eric Goodman. The practice aims to alleviate pain, especially back pain, caused by years of compression, sedentary work life, and over-all poor movement habits. By re-strengthening (or “re-awakening”) the posterior chain we can communicate to our body where to deal with gravity healthfully, using large muscles and aligned joints. This is a groundbreaking movement practice!
Sofia has also made a disciplined and conscious effort to better understand nutrition and different dietary theories. She is a graduate of The Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the world’s largest nutrition school, and I also studied Drs. Rick and Karin Dina in June, 2014 at The Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in Fort Bragg, California. Sofia is a certified holistic wellness coach and received this credential from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
